Spitalfields City Farm

Description

The farm provides educational and recreational opportunities to the local community on a farm theme. It features a large range of farm animals, including rare breeds and has extensive growing spaces, including community and wildlife gardens and the beautiful grass road.

The farm welcomes visitors and volunteers of all ages and abilities, and it is free to visit. There is a horticultural project where everyone can take part in growing herbs and vegetables to eat and sell. Pick and cook sessions take place every 1st and 3rd Monday of the month. The farm also offers an educational programme and tours for schools and groups. On Thursday afternoons there is an after school club, on Saturdays the Young Farmers Club (open to 8-13 year olds) and play schemes throughout the holidays.

The farm provides a mobile farm service. The public can hire the farm for events, small parties and summer barbeques. It also hosts corporate volunteering days.

Annual community events on the farm include The Oxford and Cambridge Goat Race (March), Easter Event (April), Sheep and Wool Fair (May), Strawberry Fayre (July), Harvest Festival (September), Apple Day (October) and a Carol Concert (December).
