Geffrye Museum

Description

The Geffrye Museum explores the home from 1600 to the present day, focusing on the English middle-classes, particularly in London. These homes are shown through a series of period living rooms and gardens which reflect changes in society, behaviour, style and taste. The museum has a strong track record in spotting and showcasing the most exciting makers and domestic style trends today.

2014 marks two significant anniversaries for the Geffrye: the tri-centenary of the opening of the almshouses for London's poor and elderly, and the centenary of the conversion of the almshouses to the museum. To celebrate, there will be a full programme of events for all ages.

Entry is free to the museum and gardens; special exhibitions usually have an entry fee.
