Avon Wildlife Trust

Local branch of the national group which manages 35 conservation reserves covering about 1600 acres within the boundaries of the old county of Avon. Aims to protect wildlife-rich areas by setting up nature reserves, offering advice to farmers, estates officers and individuals and promoting community involvement in wildlife projects. Runs local groups which are run by teams of volunteers. The Trust also has a strong educational role, running courses, organising events, and working with local authorities to prevent 'insensitive' development on sites of high conservation value. Also runs a Countryside and Environment Centre for schools at Willsbridge Mill within the Forest of Avon and at Folly Farm.
