Riverside Animal Centre

Description

The Riverside Animal Centre is a registered charity working across the borders of South London and Surrey to provide care and assistance to thousands of wild and pet animals every year.

The centre has its origins in a small family home, where its founder, Ted Burden, first cared for a handful of injured birds and other animals in a bedroom and a shed, back in the mid-nineties. Today, Ted leads a team of committed volunteers and dedicated professional staff, all of whom work tirelessly to care for the growing number of animals that desperately need help. This can easily exceed 2000 wildlife casualties as well as over 500 cats and dogs every year.

Tiggywinkles, The Wildlife Hospital Trust

Description

Tiggywinkles, The Wildlife Hospital Trust, is a specialist hospital based in Buckinghamshire. Using every available veterinary welfare skill, we are dedicated to rescuing and rehabilitating all species of British wildlife. We are open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year to take in sick, injured and orphaned wildlife.

All British wild animal casualties brought to the hospital are treated completely free of charge to members of the public and are released through a controlled programme, back to the wild, when they are fully fit.

We also have an Educational Visitor Centre on site. The Visitor Centre is designed principally to provide education and information on our specialist work. Through the use of interpretation boards, leaflets and videos, visitors can learn about the history of the Hospital, the type of animals we treat and some of the innovative techniques we employ. We have also recently opened a Red Kite Information and Education Centre for people to learn more about these majestic birds.

This sanctuary gives the animals that cannot be returned to the wild a chance to live a near natural, but protected life.
