Bite-Back

Description

Formed in 2002, Bite-Back is the UK's only organisation dedicated to the protection of sharks by reducing consumer demand for its meat and fins. With the law of supply and demand at its cornerstone, Bite-Back works together with restaurants, fishmongers and retailers to remove shark products from menus and fish counters, effectively lowering the trade in this threatened species.

Butterfly Conservation

Description

The UK charity taking action to save butterflies, moths and their habitats. Over the last 50 years, many species of butterfly and moth have declined dramatically in both abundance and range. More than half our native butterfly species are now under serious threat and five are already extinct in the UK. Hawk & Owl Trust

Description

National charity dedicated to the conservation and appreciation of all birds of prey, including owls. Achieves its major aim of creating and enhancing wild habitats for birds of prey through projects which involve practical research, creative conservation and education. Projects are often conducted in close partnership with landowners and farmers and with other like-minded organisations. Publishes a newsletter and educational materials for all ages. It also runs an ‘Adopt a Box’ scheme.

The David Sheldrick Wildlife Trust

Description

A Kenya and UK-registered charity dedicated to the protection, preservation and conservation of wildlife and habitats in Kenya. Best known for its orphans' project, which involves the rescue of orphaned baby elephants and rhinos - too often the innocent victims of the ivory trade claiming the lives of their mothers. Orphans' are hand-reared and rehabilitated so that they may return to the wild when grown. Support the orphans' project through the fostering of an orphan via the website. The fostering makes for a unique gift for family and friends as well.
