Bees for Development

Description

Bees for Development is a charitable trust that assists bee-keepers living in poor and remote areas of the world - lifting them out of poverty through bee-keeping. We work with individuals, trainers, community groups and associations, raising the profile of apiculture in developing countries to ensure a sustainable future for bees, people and the environment.

BfD publishes a quarterly magazine, organises and runs training courses, implements projects in developing countries, offers consultancy services, provides information and publications on all aspects of bees and beekeeping and welcomes UK supporters. UK Registered Charity No 1078803.

Self Help Africa

Description

Works with poor communities in rural Africa where families cannot grow enough food to feed themselves. Jobs are scarce and the lack of clean water, sanitation, education and the threat of HIV gives little hope of a better life. Self Help Africa is making a difference by giving 150,000 people in Zambia, Malawi, Burkino Faso, Ghana, Ethiopa, Kenya, Uganda and Togo, a chance to enjoy a better life. The projects help families grow enough food to eat all year round, find ways to earn a living to pay for necessities like medicines, clothes or school fees, and support community organisations to manage their own future.
