Edinburgh Local Food Network

Edinburgh Local Food Network is an informal group of organisations and individuals who care about local food and its availability in Edinburgh. We support the development of a sustainable and equitable food system for our city and region.

Our 6 objectives are

  1. To promote more opportunities for people living in Edinburgh to grow their own food.
  2. To promote more opportunities for people living in Edinburgh to obtain food grown or produced within a target radius of 50 miles from Edinburgh – and in particular from the Lothian and the Borders region.
  3. To promote the growers, producers and retailers who are making this possible.
  4. To promote businesses such as restaurants, cafes, caterers, institutional providers who share our aims and make a commitment to source as much of their food locally (we are currently defining the criteria for this).
  5. By doing the above, to present an up to date picture of the current status of local food in Edinburgh and draw attention to any potential for development and change.
  6. To provide information about other organisations with similar aims and to facilitate greater connections between these bodies.
