Wild Pickings

Wild Pickings is a small rural foraging business run by me, Jade Mellor, a professional forager for over eight years.

I collect wild food from the hedgerows, woodlands and coast of West Wales, gathering what is abundant, with care and sensitivity, always leaving plenty for wildlife and to go to seed. I use blossoms, leaves, fruits and seaweeds in personal, unique recipes to create a range of delicious foods. Preserves, dried and fresh produce can be found at a few select outlets and food festivals throughout Ceredigion. I also supply chefs and restaurants with ingredients.

I offer guided wild food walks and many run from Coed Pen yr Allt, a 23 acre working woodland which I own with my partner, an established and experienced woodsman and tutor. This sustainably managed woodland is on the side of a beautiful river valley which leads to a spectacular part of the coast.

We have workshops, a rustic kitchen area and camp fires, making it suitable for all weather. Workshops are practical, with participants learning how to gather and prepare many different seasonal plants. Emphasis is on on gathering, cooking, eating and having a good time!
