Gorgie City Farm

Description

We are a farm in the heart of the city offering a fascinating visit, especially for small children, with lots of animals including a cow, pony, sheep, goats, pigs, ducks, hens, turkeys, rabbits, guinea pigs, pet rodents, a tortoise, a snake, and an owl. There are wildlife, herb and vegetable gardens, a small play park, and a café serving tea, coffee, snacks and full meals to enjoy. No need to book for a general visit, just drop in and have a look around; admission is free though we charge for some activities, particularly at fundraising events.

For adults and older children a full range of volunteering and work experience opportunities with animals is offered, though demand is high. A thriving youth project engages harder to reach young people, and the gardening project attracts service users from a wide range of health and educational backgrounds, working in mixed ability groups and providing development opportunities.

Social enterprises include a small animal boarding service (rabbits, guinea pigs, and rodents), birthday parties, a gardening service, and rooms for hire for small events. Our education department offers guided tours to nurseries, schools and other groups and informal education throughout the site.
