At Poppies you will taste our mouth watering, fresh, sustainably caught fish, cooked in crunchy batter, served with golden chips together with experiencing a great buzz and authentic atmosphere going back to the 1940’s and 50’s.

Poppies is more that just a fish bar. Pop has recreated East End London between 1945 and 1955. It was a time of rebirth: the end of the war, the return of our forces from overseas, thriving trade in the food markets and the rebuilding of our city. Hot, quick, tasty, fish and chips were the fuel that powered the people.

Poppies’ owner, Pop Newland, has been serving fish and chips in the East End all his life. Our menu includes mouth watering fresh fish cooked in crunchy batter, served with golden chips and classic mushy peas. Served piping hot, our sustainably caught fish originates from Peterhead Fisheries and is delivered daily by T.Bush, a third generation family business at Billingsgate Market. We only buy fish of the finest quality which is prepared on the premises by our onsite fishmonger.

Our jellied eels are supplied by Mick’s, renowned throughout the East End both for their quality and the sustainable practices that bring them to your plate.
