Bere Marsh Farm

Description

If you want peace and quiet on a small organic farm, with beautiful views, birdsong and a river to sit by or fish in, then come and spend a few days and nights in our meadows and woodlands.

Ham Down meadow, Stour Hanging and Ham Down Copse cover around 8 acres and tents can be pitched on the field or in the woods. These fields form part of our 80 acre Soil Association registered organic farm. Since 1971, this farm has been a conservation and farming project; all mammals, birds, butterflies, bats and plants have been recorded and encouraged.

The North Dorset Trailway runs alongside the farm on the track of the Somerset and Dorset Railway line, closed in the 1960s. We allow a maximum of 5 tents per night, assuring everyone of plenty of space and we are keeping things as simple as possible.

There is a long-drop loo in a secluded corner of the field and a tap for fresh water near the meadow. We have 4 designated firepit areas for campfires and bbq's and wood as well as Dorset charcoal can be bought at the farm.

Moat Vale Camping & Caravan Site

Description

We welcome you to a simple wee touring caravan park and camping site near Carlisle and Gretna Green. The caravan site only takes a maximum of 5 units, so is always relatively peaceful and quiet. Being a fairly basic wee campsite you can’t expect luxury but we do a have a well kept WC, washroom and hot shower as well as a washing up shed and BBQ area. Have a look at the caravan park photos on the “About Us” page on our website.

The campsite is set in the wooded landscape of Netherby Estate, part of the Debatable Lands of the Scottish Borders. You’ll find the campsite surroundings much quieter than the congested central Lake District, yet with plenty to explore. The area is covered in artefacts of its turbulent past with many tower houses and castles to visit and the Border Esk and River Liddle provide excellent fishing opportunities. Gretna Green and historic Carlisle are also close by.

The caravan park lies approximately 9 miles off the M6 / M74, and 3 miles off the A7, do come and visit as a convenient overnight stop over or for a longer sojourn in the borders.

South Penquite Farm

Description

South Penquite is a two hundred acre family organic beef and sheep farm situated in the heart of Cornwall - high on Bodmin Moor between the villages of Blisland and St Breward.

We are a demonstration farm for both the Soil Association and the Westcountry Rivers Trust, and as well as offering camping & yurts we have facilities for field studies and opportunities for educational groups and schools to learn about local environment.

There is much to see on the farm which became fully organic in 2001. Since then we have continued to adopt an environmentally sensitive approach including solar heated hot water and rainwater harvesting for the campsite showers, and more recently a wind turbine and thirty solar PV panels on a barn roof.

As well as running the cows and sheep, the farm is exceptionally rich in archaeological remains and wildlife. We also have many horses, ponies, chickens, geese, ducks and of course our faithful working collies without whose help we could not run the farm.
