Run by a charitable trust, it is a city farm with hay meadows, offering environmental education, local wood recycling. Farming practices are balanced with the needs of nature conservation and sustainability.

The education programme attracts visitors from pre-school to third-age groups. Visitors are welcome (donations gratefully accepted) every day of the year except Christmas Day, to the cottage garden, to see the farm animals and to explore the richly varied wildlife habitats, plus the wildlife garden.
