Global Generation

Global Generation connect people to each other and the natural world by focussing on three main themes of I, We and the Planet. Primarily working with local young people, businesses and families in King's Cross, we combine activities such as supporting bees, carpentry, urban food growing, cooking, and eating together with dialogue, story, creative writing, silence and stillness. These practices help us to create the conditions for people to come together in a fuller and more connected sense of who they are and what they are a part of and from that space, to support them to practically contribute to ecological and social change.

Our city base is the Skip Garden, a moveable urban food growing garden in the middle of the King's Cross development site. Amongst the rise of glass and steel buildings, it is an urban oasis in which herbs, chillies, apples, sweet potatoes and cabbages grow out of skips and planters made out of scaffold boards and other reclaimed materials. In King's Cross, we also create gardens on rooftops and restaurant terraces.

At the Skip Garden, we have our own cafe, open from 10am-4pm, Tuesday to Saturday. The Skip Garden Kitchen serves seasonal food using produce from the garden with young people involved in creating the menu, cooking and serving the food. We add a measure of creativity and a pinch of unusual combinations to local organic vegetables that are prepared with care and allowed to speak for themselves.

The Skip Garden also provides a unique and fantastic space for hosting of events. Events can range from cosy affairs in our wood-fired yurt to big celebrations of up to 200 people using all of the garden's spaces. From parties, to lunches and dinners for colleagues and friends, team meetings, book launches, children’s birthday parties, staff away days...and even weddings, the Skip Garden adds a touch of magic to each and every event, big or small!
