Amorphous Design Ltd

Description

Amorphous Design is a studio of RIBA chartered architects, experienced in delivering innovative sustainable buildings. We specialize in designing bespoke green buildings and conversion projects, offering a comprehensive service from: initial concept design through to planning applications, building control submissions, construction drawings and project management.

We are experts in integrating practical green building strategies into our design work, which has been gained from over 15 years of experience working in all development sectors on residential, commercial, healthcare, transportation and scientific projects. Our approach is to embed sustainable and low energy thinking into every design decision, this may involve choosing the optimal orientation of a building to ensure beneficial solar exposure, or selecting materials and finishes according to their environmental impact.

Maximising opportunities to harvest natural light, natural ventilation, to collect rainwater and insulate buildings appropriately, are all analysed first before attempting to consider more visible renewable technologies such as Photo Voltaic energy systems or wind turbines.

Our experience in gaining international BREEAM and LEED green building certifications, has equipped us with significant practical knowledge that is tailored to every unique project we work on, always aiming to deliver future proof green building solutions that meet or exceed our clients’ expectations.

Richards Partington Architects

Description

Richards Partington Architects (RPA) was first established by Richard Partington, as sole practitioner in 1998. The business has grown into a successful limited company with an established client base covering a wide range of fields.

Our project portfolio includes low-energy houses, public and community facilities, shops, business start-up units, housing developments, offices, urban design, building research, evaluation and writing, illustrating and publishing books and technical guidance.

We are committed to minimising the environmental impact of our buildings and advocate a commonsense approach based on passive design; an efficient building envelope and closing the gap between predicted and actual energy consumption.

Roger Mears Architects

Description

We are architects specialising in historic and listed buildings, particularly private houses of all ages and size. We enjoy working with our clients to conserve and enhance the special features of their house while altering and/or extending in such a way as to allow them to gain the greatest benefit from living there. We have huge experience in dealing with conservation officers and English Heritage so that we seldom have serious problems in reaching a satisfactory outcome to the planning process.

Our principal, Roger Mears is accredited as an architect in conservation (AABC) and is on the RIBA’s own register of accredited conservation architects, confirming the high standards that we seek to achieve.

van Heyningen & Haward Architects

Description

van Heyningen and Haward is an award winning design-led practice. Founded in 1983, we are now a partnership, owned and managed by three partners, James McCosh, Meryl Townley and Chris Wilderspin. The partners are closely involved in the design and delivery of challenging and interesting projects where they can really add value. This ethos has continued to inform the practice as they have grown, and underpins their ability to undertake a wide range of complex projects.

We have continued to develop our expertise in sustainable buildings, which has evolved from the practices early interest in low-energy design. Our attitude is that common-sense sustainability makes buildings which are more pleasant to be in, cheap to run and effective over the long term. This involves a holistic attitude to the design, working closely with our clients and the design team, and balancing the diverse range of issues.

We have designed an exemplary zero-carbon visitor centre for the RSPB, but bring this commitment to all our projects to enhance the outcomes for our clients and the users of our buildings. The challenge is bringing this level of performance to the wide range of brief and client aspirations, within normal budgets and timescales
