How the Green Guide works

Themes & Chapters
The Green Guide is organised according to twelve themes covering the whole range of a modern lifestyle. These follow a logical progression beginning with the basic individual requirements of food, clothing, shelter, energy and health and then move into the collective activities of family, travel, leisure, business and politics. Finally the Green Guide looks at the media, education and employment.
The twelve chapters listed below correspond to these twelve themes. The Directory (including online databases) and the listings published in each printed edition of the Green Guide - Regional Editions, Essentials, Pocket Guides, Gifts, Weddings, etc - follow these themes and chapters.
- 01 Food & Farming
02 Fashion & Beauty
03 Building, Home & Garden
04 Renewable Energy & Recycling
05 Health & Wellbeing
06 Children, Family, Community & Gifts
07 Transport & Travel
08 Leisure, Activities & Holidays
09 Money, Sustainable Business & CSR
10 Government, Campaigning & Change
11 Media, Arts, Events & Awards
12 Centres, Research, Education & Careers
Each chapter is broken down into sections which are further divided into sub-sections where appropriate. Not all sections have sub-sections. There are 944 Sections and Sub-sections in total. See Directory Structure for details.
Each chapter contains a section or sections (depending upon the organisational complexity of the chapter) specifically on advice and organisations. Generally these contain listings of non-commercial organisations relating to the chapter theme and are useful if you want advice or information in more detail.
For recent info on the directory content, see Green Guide Directory Statistics.
