La Fromagerie is a unique business. Founded in 1991 by Patricia Michelson, who turned her garden shed into a cheese cave and introduced properly matured farmhouse cheeses sourced direct from small independent cheesemakers to an eager public. The business has emerged as a major player in the cheese world, with its stylish unconventional shop a window for the best kept cheeses and other specialist foods from the continent.

In this informal and friendly shop, one can find cheeses from France, Italy, the British Isles and other European countries. There are fine wines from small independent estates; hand baked breads as well as traditional sourdough bread from the famous Lionel Poilane bakery in Paris, and Pagnotta bread from Bari in Southern Italy; exclusively imported chocolates from Bernard Dufoux of Burgundy; many lines of unusual charcuterie from France and Italy; fruit and vegetables direct from the Milan markets and many other delicious treats, with a whole collection of foods bought in from the continent for Christmas.
