Fairtrade Foundation, The

The Fairtrade Foundation is a certification body which awards an independent consumer label - the FAIRTRADE Mark - to products which meet international standards. The FAIRTRADE Mark appears on products as a guarantee that disadvantaged producers are getting a better deal. There are now over 4,500 products carrying the FAIRTRADE Mark in the retail and catering markets. Fairtrade makes a difference to over 1.5 million farmers, workers and their families. It ensures: a price that covers producers' costs, a premium which producers decide how to invest in their communities on projects such as clean water, healthcare, education and the environment, and long term and more direct trading relations.

Products include coffee, tea, herbal teas, chocolate, cocoa, sugar, bananas, grapes, pineapples, mangoes, avocados, apples, pears, plums, grapefruit, lemons, oranges, satsumas, clementines, mandarins, lychees, coconuts, dried fruit, juices, smoothies, biscuits, cakes & snacks, honey, jams & preserves, chutney & sauces, rice, quinoa, herbs & spices, seeds, nuts & nut oil, wines, beers, rum, confectionary, muesli, cereal bars, yoghurt, ice-cream, flowers, sports balls, sugar body scrub and cotton products including clothing, homeware, cloth toys, cotton wool and olive oil.

Fairtrade Fortnight is the annual campaign each February to raise awareness about Fairtrade and to encourage more consumers to positively change the lives of producers in developing countries by choosing Fairtrade.
