DeMEC Jewellers

DeMEC is a small London-based group of designer-makers dedicated to the design and creation of state-of-the-art jewellery using ethically sourced materials, since 2002. The company specialises in vegetable ivory, an organic material found in South American rainforests. Its properties are very similar to animal ivory – making this amazing material the only natural and 100 per cent sustainable alternative. Employing exquisite craftsmanship and fusing the timeless elegance of traditional materials like silver or gold and precious and semi-precious stones with the avant-garde eco trend of vegetable Iivory in a uniquely original and innovative series of designs to produce an exciting range of earrings, bracelets, necklaces, pendants, cufflinks, and rings. By using and promoting the use of vegetable Ivory, they’re aiming to slow the needless sacrifice of elephants on one hand and on the other, supporting south American local communities. DeMEC’s unique pieces can be found in three major London arts and crafts markets – Piccadilly Market at St James’s Church, Greenwich Market and Spitalfields Market.
