Tapa Bakehouse Southside

Tapa organic is an independent, family-owned business dedicated to producing fresh, quality handmade food and great coffee. Tapa opened its doors in December 2003. Our bread making processes are designed to bring out the natural goodness and flavour of the ingredients through slow fermentation. Bread is a staple of our diet and people should be confident that the bread they eat is meeting their basic nutritional needs. Our bakery is open to the shop so everyone can see their bread being made, see the quality of the ingredients going into the loaves, and talk to the people doing the baking.

Our southside coffee roasterie is open too – ask the roasters what they’re roasting and get them to show you the green beans in their exotic sacks.

Our breads and cakes are certified organic by the Soil Association because even though certification is expensive and bureaucratic, it’s as strong a statement as we can make about the importance of transparency in food production and the importance of good quality ingredients. We don't use cheap fillers, "improving" agents or other additives to make great bread, and most are made without added fats or sugars; many are made without bakers' yeast.
