Award-winning responsible tour operator Hands Up Holidays has released its 2014 brochure for families wishing to make a difference in a hands-on way as part of their holiday, whilst staying in sustainable and environmentally-friendly luxury accommodation, and enjoying amazing sights along the way.

The trips are all tailor-made, and are ideal for families:

  • to provide meaningful interaction with another culture in a safe context;
  • to instil the values of service and giving back in children;
  • to bond together as a family;
  • and so that children can appreciate how fortunate they are.

The company's responsible credentials are manifest in two ways:

  1. by helping disadvantaged communities or conserve the environment and wildlife;
  2. and by offering luxury eco-accommodation in hotels and lodges that actively care for the environment and/or their local community - with measures such as recycling, grey water usage, solar or wind electricity generation, use of sustainable materials in construction, local water rights management, and local ownership.

Founder of Hands Up Holidays, Christopher Hill, says: “Incorporating an element of ‘giving back’ to a luxury family trip helps make it so much more meaningful and memorable. I am delighted that the number of eco-luxury properties around the world has increased for 2014 – a positive sign. Our consultants pride themselves on preparing tailor-made itineraries that understand the specific requirements of families, striking the right balance between sightseeing, service, and pure relaxation.”

Hands up Holidays offers trips in 40 countries throughout the world. These include Australia, New Zealand, Cambodia, Bhutan, Hawaii, Costa Rica, Morocco, Zambia and South Africa.
