Looking to the markets of Mexico for inspiration, Wahaca was born from our love of fresh, honest, Mexican market food.

Not so long ago, tequila girls, cheap shots and greasy tortilla chips were images that sprang to mind when ‘Mexican’ was done in Britain. At Wahaca we shook things up a bit and started doing things a little differently. We’ve worked hard to match the flavours of Mexico with ingredients we can get hold of to create a constantly evolving, seasonal menu with ingredients sourced as locally as possibly, or grown and transported with care for the environment.

In recognition of our attempts to run our business with minimal impact on the environment around us, we've been voted Sustainable Restaurant Group of the year for 2 years running by the SRA. Our Wahaca Southbank Experiment restaurant was awarded the Green Building award at the Sustainable City Awards. Our most recent opening in St. Paul's was awarded a Gold SKA rating for measures including our recycling our used cooking oil into Bio Diesel used to power taxis in South London and the recycling of the heat given off by our freezers, to heat our water, saving energy by avoiding the need for a boiler.

Wahaca - Charlotte Street
Three converted Georgian terrace houses in the heart of Fitzrovia make up Wahaca Charlotte Street, which offers award winning street food, a first floor mezcal bar, a tortaría market shop stacked full of hard to find Mexican ingredients and a takeaway for lunch on the go. The Wahacito tortaría market shop has a selection of tortas, burritos and tacos to take away and gives keen cooks the chance to pick up hard-to-find Mexican ingredients for recreating their favourite dishes at home. Products on offer include salsas, masa harina, chillies, herbs and fresh corn tortillas.
