Edinburgh & Lothians Greenspace Trust

The Edinburgh & Lothians Greenspace Trust works to make a positive difference in the quality of life of Lothian communities by improving their local environment. We believe that quality local greenspaces can have a positive impact on the health and well-being of individuals, particularly in disadvantaged areas.

We work with communities, landowners, local authorities and other organisations within urban and rural areas, to create sustainable, well-managed and accessible greenspaces. We endeavour to ensure that everyone has an equal opportunity to enjoy their natural environment and work for the benefit of people, wildlife, landscape and heritage.

We work to create and improve urban and urban fringe greenspaces such as woodlands, community gardens, parks, play areas, school grounds and cycle paths. We also carry out a wide range of complementary outdoor activities to promote the positive use of greenspaces, encouraging mental and physical wellbeing. Community activities include guided walks, activity sessions (e.g. health walks, cycling, fitness etc), eco education, environmental arts and conservation volunteering.
