Plan A in action as M&S launches frisbee made from litter collected at Big Beach Clean-Up

Marks & Spencer (M&S) has launched the Beach Clean Frisbee made from recycled plastic, including some plastic from litter collected by M&S customers and employees. The frisbee turns rubbish such as plastic cups, fishing tackle and bottle tops discarded onto Britain's beaches into a brand new product.

The launch of the frisbee coincides with this year’s Big Beach Clean-Up (which runs until the 30th April) and is on sale now at M&S.com and in six costal M&S stores – Belfast (Abbey Centre), Bexhill, Lytham St Annes, Silverlink Retail Park, Weston Super Mare and Edinburgh Kinnaird. Read more »

‘Risky play’ good for children, says Forest School study

Children are more likely to flourish when allowed to indulge in “risky play” outdoors unhindered by excessive adult supervision, a new report suggests. Education experts spent a year studying a group of 13 children from Meadowlane Primary School in Cardiff as part of a Forest School programme to assess how our woodlands can help their development. ‘Disconnected children’ mean nature is at risk

Survey reveals the Coronation versus Jubilee generation sleep gap

In Jubilee year, sixty years on from the coronation, a new survey shows that our kids go to bed later, eat later and prefer playing in to playing out.

  • 58% of children watch television before bed compared to 25% of grandparents at their age.
  • 31% of children mostly spend their free time playing outside compared to 89% of grandparents at their age.
