Coombes Farm Tours

Description

Enjoy a trailor ride over 400 hectares of farmland in the South Downs. The journey will cover conservation areas where you will see wildflowers cascading along the bank and areas planted to encourage wildlife. Lambing from 800 ewes and calving from 90 cows takes place from March to mid-April. There is also a barn available for hire for special occasions. The farm houses an 11th Century church famous for its frescoes. Stunning views across the Wealds and over the downs out to sea.

Clearwell Caves - Ancient Iron Mines

Description

Working mining museum still producing natural, iron-based pigments (ochre): yellow, red, purple and brown colours. Mined on a small scale by free miners. Suitable for artists or home decorators using natural finishes such as lime wash, distempters, washes etc. Beautiful colours. Also, nine large caverns with mining displays, cafe, shop, picnic area, open to the public daily.

The Blue Pool

Description

Hackney City Farm

Description

Exists to bring the countryside and its activities to urban people, generally using otherwise derelict land and involving local people in their establishment and maintenance. The farm is a registered charity and was established in 1984 on 1.5 acres of land and buildings. Waltham Place Organic Farm and Gardens
